If you opened this, it could be out of only two reasons. You are either my fellow writer, an aspiring writer, or someone curious, and loves to read. Either way, this article is going to be of great importance and no regrets.
Once in a while in your writing career, you’ll experience severe exhaustion, which normally comes with a lack of motivation to continue writing. I’m actually writing this article to help me refresh and come back to my right mood to continue working.
I just completed my last year’s projects, and getting into this year’s gigs seems so impossible to me. I have zero inspiration to start, and I thought writing down a solution to this would be a great way to help me come back to the track.
If you notice that you doubt your worth and capability as a writer, stay here, as I will help you solve this right away. So you do not have the energy to work anymore. All your ideas suddenly vanished, or see them as not enough.
You write down a good article, but take it to the recycle bin since you don’t think it’s worth being published. Name it all.
Let’s get to the solutions:
Train Yourself to Accept Constructive Criticism
Towards the end of last year, I almost lost my long term client, into an argument. In my opinion, I was so right in whatever we were arguing about, and I wanted him to accept and make changes before we could continue working.
I put the contract on hold and later asked him to end it since I didn’t see future writing for his company.
To cut the long story short, never take any criticism personal. Assume that they want the best for you, improve on your skills, and let go.
Connect With Yourself
When I started off writing, I used all my free time to check on my emails, answer texts, go through Instagram and all that. Well, I still do that sometimes, but taking at least a 15 minutes break away from your computer and phone is very important.
Go for a walk, or sit and gaze at nothing, and let yourself daydream. It will help you a long way.
I do this all the freaking time -my close friend can attest to this. Look, the world can never end without you. Take your time to be alone, in a silent place. Talk to your inner being, and connect. It’s your you-time. Keep off distractions.
Do something different form of writing. If possible, go for a vacation. If you’re used to doing a lot of stuff, hire someone to do them, while you relax. Seek for services, where you can just sit down, as you get served nicely. I will recommend body massages, swimming and eating good food.
Change It Up
That’s exactly what I’m doing right now. Most of the times I get to write tech articles, which have always drowned me into research. It’s so draining and leaves you seeking every opinion from the internet. If you’re an opinionated person like me, you’ll get a burnout – sure thing.
Therefore, writing an article, like this one, that allows me to express my opinions freely, without specific fields, is such a mood for me. It could be for you too if we share almost the same personality or likes.
The above points are just a few out of the very many ideas I have. Let us continue with this in the comments section. Feel free to ask questions, and give opinions. Also, if you missed out on my last article, you got to go back and read it and let it create an impact on you as a writer. Cheers!
