There is no magical moment in one’s life such as that moment you decide to follow your dreams. It is always an exciting experience, as not everybody is lucky to locate a goal that they truthfully trust in. Chasing your dreams is undoubtedly a risking activity; dreams do not come true so quickly.  Besides, instead of letting it pass without trying, you would rather chase it and fail. Just set your goals and head out on your way, to accomplish them. All will be well.  But that is, up until you convey them to the people close to your heart, friends, and family.

Well, your friends and family might not be as supportive as you may have expected, in helping you achieve your goals in life.  Did you suppose they would be so concerned, asking several questions here and there, wanting to help? It should not come as a surprise. Yes, many of them will be hesitant and uncooperative. They may be thinking that your dreams are too risky and the probabilities are contrary to you. Whatever they are up to, one point is clear, they are against you, and they want you to give up on your dreams.

1. Be Strong

In ordinary situations, it is always challenging to act in your dreams.  And what makes it even harder is being surrounded by people who tell you to quit.  Dreams are meant for strong individuals; those will chase their dreams with or without the backs of their dearly loved ones.  Sometimes during the journey of dream chasing, it is normal to need support from your friends and family.

 Knowing that you have somebody supportive on your side, when you feel so low in life, is fulfilling.  That is the reason you need to be around supportive people.  And it induces fear and doubt when they are not. It almost makes it impossible to achieve.

•  Block Their Negativity

 Yes.  You will have to block their obstructive actions and shied your dream.  Maybe every time they are around you, they keep reminding you of it. There are such people.  Although they do not like it, that does not mean they should be reminding you of it whenever you meet.

 Keep them shut, in a friendly manner. Avoid telling them about it too, if need be, say the necessary and keep it low. In this case, they might say a negative thing about your dreams, but do not argue with them about it, as it will not solve. Arguments will worsen everything.  If the negativity overwhelms you, you may feel like you want to reduce the time you spend near them too.

Note that, this decision is not as light as you may think, but it is worth taking. Hanging out with people full of negative influences towards your dreams will only make everything impossible.

•  Find a Way towards Your Dreams

This is difficult.  Do not watch your dreams turning into a nightmare.  Even though everyone around you is uncooperative, do not stop. Find a way out. It is hard, just like running a competitive race with your pockets filled with heavy metal. You will always be dragged back. You have a reason to remain focused on achieving your dreams.  Find your way towards them.

• Compromise with Them

 Have you ever met somebody who dreams of being a musician, but is pursuing an engineering course? They practice singing during the weekends and holidays and attend classes on engineering usually. Do not drop everything, instead, do it on a part timely. 

By the way, this might just change your family’s attitude. They will start feeling good about the decision. After all, if music fails to work out, you can still earn through engineering.  Although not as you wanted it, you will always be chasing your dream, and your family is at peace too.

• Get to Convince Them

It is very common to get scared of things that you know nothing, or you are not so sure about.  And as such, many individuals could picture ideas in their heads, and think of it, even without figuring out the whole thing.  Do you know that this might be why they are not supporting you?

 Possibly, you should clarify to them your choices; they could comprehend and think otherwise.  Try to be honest with them, and pass your points. Let them know the exciting part of the decision too.

 The Bottom Line

 You might want to change the world or to do a particular thing to the people you love.  But remember, the ambitions you have in life should never be freaked out by how much support you have from friends and family. It is never personal.  Someone else, perhaps, will someday do the exact thing to you.  But take it easy on them; do not create war with them. Follow your dreams in a nice way that will be admired and celebrated.  You can do it, even one against the world; people have done it, and still more to come.
